While the original Athens Fiddlers Convention ended during the Great Depression, it began again in 1967 on the campus of Athens College (now Athens State University). The stage in the McCandless Hall theater is named after The Delmore Brothers. Athens State University holds an extensive collection of Delmore Brothers memorabilia, donated to the University by Alton's youngest daughter, Debby Delmore. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of The Delmore Brothers' first performance at the Athens Fiddlers Convention, the steering committee of the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention agreed to fund a project to re-introduce The Delmore Brothers' music to a new generation of listeners that will influence future generations of musicians.
